Time to THINK

Well, been home since Last Friday.  The weekend was ok, but Monday through Thursday was forced upon me by SnowJAM 2011.  Yes, I have been out a little, but have not gone to work.  Just don't think it is worth the risk to tear up a company vehicle.

I have had plenty of opportunity to be still these last few days, and usually, I would be going out of my mind.  I have actually been ok with doing NOTHING, which has given me time to think.  Some of the things on my mind are as follows:

- From where did this mentality of dependence come? We are a nation founded on the idea of personal liberty.  Within that lies the idea of personal responsibility.  Why do people continue to place themselves in adverse situations and then sit back and expect others to bail them out?  Then they cry and complain that "nobody is giving me nothing."

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." - Albert Einstein  No further evidence is necessary other than what you can see on the local news.

- Either there has not been much crime in Atlanta these last few days, or the news media is just not covering it. It seems that snow, ice and lack of maneuverability do more to reduce crime than fines, penalties and rehabilitation. The only thing more effective is a law-abiding, gun carrying citizen. (By the way, these are the citizens who believe in personal liberty and responsibility.)

- The media that is trying to blame the actions of a individual lunatic on conservative talk radio is the same media who told us not to jump to conclusions after the Ft. Hood shootings.  Turns out they were wrong on both accounts.

- It is unfortunate that there were not any gun-carrying citizens in the immediate vicinity of the shooting. I believe the outcome would have been different.  I am thankful for those brave citizens that did react with heroism, especially the retired army veteran.

- If only the police here could use some of the profiling techniques used by the police in Israel,  maybe the Arizona shooting would have never occurred.

- Our president is a coward.  He's so afraid of offending someone that the best he can do in a moment of tragedy is lead us in a moment of silent prayer.

- Will they same people who are complaining this week that they cannot get to work be the same ones complaining next week when their employers decide not to close their offices Monday in observance of the holiday?

- How did Noah survive all that time on the Ark?  He did not have TV, I-pads, Ipods, Kindles, Nooks, Wii, movies, XBox, Call of Duty - Black OPS, electricity,...etc.
