Political Correctness - Who needs it?
Do you remember when the phrase "Politically Correct" emerged. If I remember correctly, it was in the 1990's. What is it? According to Wikipedia, Political correctness is ...(adjectivally, politically correct; both forms commonly abbreviated to PC) is a term denoting language, ideas, policies, and behavior seen as seeking to minimize social offense in gender, racial, cultural, sexual orientation, handicap, and age-related contexts. In current usage, the terms are almost exclusively pejorative, connoting “intolerant” and “intolerance”.
Here's the best definition I have ever found. "Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."
Personally, I think political correctness has run amuck.
Let's look at airport/homeland security for example. Who attacked us on 9/11/01? Muslim extremist! Who has hijacked every plane in the last 30 years? Muslim extremist! Who perpetrates 99% of all terrorist bombings? Muslim extremist! What is airport security on the lookout for at every check point? Muslim extr......! WRONG! Answer: Scissors, kntting needles, letter openers, liquid soap, 90 year old nuns in wheel chairs, belt buckles (I saw this personally...confiscation of a 80 year old, WWII veteran's belt buckle because it had the image of a gun on it.),.... PLEASE!
The Christmas Day bomber would have never made it on the plane if we had been searching for one thing - MUSLIM EXTREMIST! Oh, but we cannot profile for fear of hurting someone's feelings. It's not profiling if you know what you are searching for, it's IDENTIFICATION! Do you think the security forces around Israel's airport care if they hurt someone's feelings? If they suspect anything, you will get an orifice inspection that you will never forget. And they, won't say "I'm sorry" when they finish. Muslim extremist terrorist do not try and originate their flights from Israel. I wonder why.
When are we going to get it? When are we going to stand up and and quit bending over backwards everytime someone (primarily the terrorist supporting group CAIR) complains about the methods used to protect this country. [I'm convinced that our President does not know that his primary duty is to defend this country, its people, and its Constitution.] So what if they are offended. They have the right to not fly. Why not exercise it?
This is just one example. There are many. So, how are we going to go about combatting this doctrine? Me personally, I'm going to start calling a "turd", a "turd". (I never really stopped.) Political correctness is a "turd". If it's offensive,....not sorry! How's this for starters?

....from my cold dead fingers!
I remember when Kennesaw, GA passed a law requiring all homeowners within the city limits to own an handgun. At the time, it seemed kind of odd and out of place. They were ridiculed in the press by the anti-gun crowd, but it appears the city fathers knew something that others did not. Law abiding citizens with guns help reduce crime. It seems the anti-gun crowd believe that guns cause violence.
Today, crime statistics indicate that burglary and home invasions are practically non-existent in Kennesaw and the immediate surrounding area. It seems, that the criminal is less likely to enter a place where he will encounter a law abiding citizen with the ability and desire to defend himself. In other words, criminals are afraid of being shot, so they go elsewhere.
Think about it. Where do most of the mass shootings occur? They occur at businesses and locations where the law abiding citizen is forbidden to carry his weapon - happened in Atlanta just last week.
Recently, I was in a business and was carrying my handgun, as I always do. It is always obvious by the stares from the other patrons and business owners when I am not welcome, but unless there is a sign saying it is not allowed, my handgun will be on my hip. A conversation ensued with one of the business owners. I asked her two questions.
1. "If someone came in here right now with the intent of shooting everyone in the business, how many will die before the police get here with an adequate response?"
2. "Do you think it is likely that less people will die if there is someone in the business prepared with an armed response?"
What's your answer to the above? Mine? HOLLOW POINTS! When you care enough to send the very best!
I think it time the criminal begins to live in fear of the consequences of his actions from the law abiding citizens. This will reduce crime.
I pray that I never have to use my handgun, but I am prepared to do so to protect myself, my family or those around me.
